Wix SEO Cost: What You Pay, and What You Are Actually Paying For
Updated: 5 days ago

Wix SEO cost comes in three layers: Wix's own SEO tools, which come with every plan; a paid plan if you want your own domain; and any help you pay for. This guide puts numbers on each, then explains the four ways SEO help is priced and how to tell which one a quote is selling you.
How much does Wix SEO cost?
Wix SEO costs nothing extra on its own: Wix's built-in SEO tools come with every plan, including the free one. A custom domain needs a paid plan, from $17 a month as of October 30, 2026. Help costs more. In an Ahrefs poll of SEO providers, updated August 15, 2024, the most common rate was $75 to $100 an hour.
What you pay for | Typical cost | Source |
Wix's built-in SEO tools | Included in every plan, free plan too | Wix, as of October 30, 2026 |
A Wix plan with your own domain | $17 to $159 a month, billed yearly | Wix, as of October 30, 2026 |
Your own time, doing it yourself | Free tools; your hours | Google Search Console is free |
Hourly help | Most common: $75 to $100 an hour | Ahrefs poll of 439 SEO providers, updated August 15, 2024 |
A monthly retainer | Most common: $501 to $1,000 a month | Same poll |
A one-off project | Most common: $2,501 to $5,000 | Same poll |

Is SEO included in your Wix plan?
Yes. Wix includes its SEO tools on every plan, the free plan too. That covers fields for page titles and meta descriptions, a sitemap Wix creates for you, a self-referencing canonical tag on every page, and the Wix SEO Setup Checklist. What a plan does not include is anyone doing the SEO work for you.
Wix says its sites are built to be crawled and indexed by search engines "whether or not they are upgraded to a Premium plan." The main thing the free plan lacks is a custom domain: free sites use a Wix address. If you have not chosen a plan yet, what a Wix website costs compares them.
How much does a Wix SEO expert charge?
A Wix SEO expert usually charges by the hour, by the month or by the project. In Ahrefs' poll of 439 SEO providers, the most common rates were $75 to $100 an hour, $501 to $1,000 a month, and $2,501 to $5,000 a project. The poll covers SEO on any platform, not Wix alone.
Two quotes for the same money can buy very different amounts of work. That is why the pricing model matters more than the number. To find and vet someone, see hiring a Wix SEO consultant.
The four ways Wix SEO help is priced
Wix SEO help is sold four ways: a one-off audit, a one-off project, hourly or retainer time, and a subscription. Each prices something different. An audit prices a document, a project prices a scope, time prices hours, and a subscription prices a rate of work. A quote may not say which one you are looking at.
One-off audit
Someone reviews the site and hands you a document. The price depends on how much of it a tool generates and how much a person reads. An audit is cheaper because nothing is changed on your site; fixing what it found is still yours to do or to buy.
One-off project
A fixed scope with an end date: fix the technical issues, rewrite the main pages, set up analytics. The price depends on how much there is to do. The risk is not the work; it is that search keeps moving after the project ends.
Hourly or retainer
You buy time. The price is the rate times the hours, and what you get in those hours may not be written down. Two quotes for the same money can mean very different amounts of work, and the quote alone will not tell you which.
Subscription
You buy a rate of change: a set number of things done to the site every week. You can check what you got, because the count is the deliverable.
Model | What the price buys | What you can check | Watch for |
One-off audit | A document | The findings, page by page | Nobody makes the fixes |
One-off project | A written scope with an end date | Whether each part of the scope was done | Results fade if nothing follows |
Hourly or retainer | Time | Hours logged, if they are reported | No written list of what the hours produce |
Subscription | A set amount of work every week | The count, and each change | A count with no reason behind each change |
Capron Media (ours) | Starter: five optimizations a week, made for you on the site you already own, and each one shown in your portal. An SEO Audit and SEO Projects are sold separately. | See every change on your site: what it was, why it was made, and when it was done | Starter does not include Google Business Profile or local listings work, link building, a redesign, social media, ads or email marketing |

What makes Wix SEO cheaper or more expensive?
Wix SEO costs less when the platform has already done part of the work, when the site is small, and when pages are built from a template. It costs more when there are many pages, each written by hand, or when nobody has editor access to make the changes. Count your pages before you ask for a quote.
The platform does some of it for you
Wix creates your sitemap, adds a canonical tag to every page, and gives you title and meta description fields. That is work you are not paying anyone to do. A provider quoting for technical setup on a Wix site should be able to say what is left after Wix's defaults.
Your page count, which you can check yourself
Open your sitemap and count the pages. That number is one of the most useful things you can bring to a quote. If a provider prices per page, you can check the total. If the price is a flat monthly fee with no scope, ask what it covers on a site your size.
Dynamic pages change the arithmetic
If your site uses Wix collections to build pages from a dataset, one template change can update many pages at once. That makes some work cheaper than on a hand-built site, and makes a per-page quote misleading in the other direction.
The questions that tell you which model you are buying
Ask these four before the price, not after. The answers say more than the number.
What will be different on my site in thirty days?
An audit answers with a document. A project answers with a list of pages. A subscription answers with a count. An hourly arrangement may not be able to answer at all, and that is the useful part of asking.
Who implements it?
There is a large difference between a provider who recommends changes and one who makes them. On Wix, making them means having access to your site's editor. If nobody has asked for that, nobody has planned to change anything.
What happens if I stop paying?
For a one-off, nothing changes and the work stays. For anything ongoing, the site may hold its position for a while and then slide as competitors keep working. A provider who says it collapses at once is overselling. One who says nothing happens is describing a project, not a subscription.
What am I not getting?
Every price leaves something out. Link building, content writing and paid ads can be assumed and not included. A provider who names what is left out, without being pushed, is telling you what the price means.
Can you do Wix SEO yourself for free?
Yes. On Wix, the tools are already there: a title and meta description field on every page, a sitemap Wix keeps up to date, and free Google Search Console. For a small site, that covers most of the technical ground. What no platform does is decide which pages are worth ranking, or keep going every week.
Those are the parts people pay for, and the parts that are easy to stop. To try it before you buy anything, our guide to Wix SEO walks through the nine, cheapest first.
If you want to talk about which model your site needs, book a free call about your site. It takes about 15 minutes, and there is no charge for the call.
