Wix Website Cost: What a Wix Site Really Costs to Run

A Wix website costs $0 on the free plan and $17 to $159 a month on the four paid plans, according to Wix's own pricing guide, as of October 30, 2026. Those are yearly prices, paid up front. The domain after year one, business email, paid apps and card fees come on top.

How much does a Wix website cost?
The plan price runs from nothing to $159 a month. Wix shows each paid plan as a monthly figure, but the displayed price is for a yearly subscription paid in full at purchase. Which plan you need depends on one question more than any other: does the site take payments?

How much does a Wix website cost per year?
Multiply the monthly figure by twelve, because that is what you pay on day one. The Light plan is $204 for the year and the Core plan is $348, before tax, at the prices above. Wix also sells monthly plans, but its help center says the free domain voucher comes with yearly plans only.
Yearly plans are charged in full, up to three weeks before they expire.
Wix emails you from 30 days before a yearly renewal payment.
Monthly plans renew every month on the expiry date, with no email first.

What else do you pay for besides the Wix plan?
Five things sit outside the plan price. Each one is small, and each one renews on its own date, which is why they are easy to miss.

The domain is the easiest one to miss. The free year is a voucher for a new domain bought from Wix, it comes with yearly plans only, and you have 60 days to use it. Year two is the first year you pay for it.

Will my Wix price go up when the plan renews?
It can. If you bought on a discount, Wix's help center says the discounted price covers the first year or month only, and every renewal after that is charged at the plan's original price. The plan renews automatically. So treat a promotional first-year price as a first-year price, and look up the regular price before you budget year two.

Is it worth paying for Wix Premium?
Yes, if the site represents a business. The free plan works for testing, but it shows Wix ads and uses a wixsite.com address. A paid plan is what connects your own domain and removes Wix branding, and Core is the first plan that can take payments. If you are unsure, Wix offers a 14-day money-back guarantee for most subscriptions.
What is the downside of Wix pricing?
The costs spread out over time and across separate subscriptions. Four things to know before you commit:
The price you see is a year paid at once, not a monthly bill.
A discount applies to the first term only.
The domain is free for one year, then renews at the regular price.
Email, paid apps and card fees each bill separately from the plan.
None of this is hidden. Wix states each point on its own pages. It simply never appears in one number.
The cost that never appears on a bill: your time
On a small site, the largest cost can be the owner's evenings. A do-it-yourself Wix site is not free. It is paid for in hours of building, writing and fixing. That is often the right trade, and it is worth making on purpose, because the hours are real whether or not anybody counts them.
Being found is a separate purchase
Nothing in a Wix plan makes anybody arrive. The platform gives you the fields to fill in and a sitemap. Whether your pages are worth ranking, and whether somebody keeps working on them, is not part of what you bought. How to work out your own Wix cost
Add up twelve months of real charges, not the plan price you remember.
Open Billing and Payments in your Wix account.
Add every charge with Wix's name on it: the plan, the domain, email.
Add every app subscription.
Add card fees from your payment reports, if you sell.
Estimate the hours you put in each month.
The total is your real annual cost, and it is higher than the plan price whenever anything sits outside the plan.
Is Wix cheaper than a free platform?
Not always. A free platform still needs hosting, a domain, updates, security and someone to notice when a plugin breaks. Count the same five costs above on both sides, plus your hours, and the gap can narrow a long way. We compare the platforms in Wix vs Squarespace vs WordPress.
When is spending more on a Wix site worth it?
When people already find the site and the problem is what happens after they arrive. Spending more is a poor bet when nobody is arriving and the plan is a redesign: a better-looking site that nobody reaches costs more and returns nothing.
